This one dragged quite a bit in the middle if I’m being honest, but the beginning was fun and the ending was absolutely killer!

I think the dungeon crawl through the labyrinth just really didn’t live up to my expectations, it was boring and repetitive and I had been looking forward to it so much that I just ended up feeling disappointed and wanting to be on the other side of it. It was also depressing to see Mercy get kind of… thrown away in this one.

The multiple book tournament arc was definitely the high point of the series so far and this felt rather slow compared to that but was still a fun experience. The opening of Lindon organizing everyone and his dad not understanding he's a big deal was interesting for the politics of it all but then it just got kinda boring for a while. Spelunking was fun after the first few chapters. Also wasn't surprised about Eithan at all, such a good character moment. Can't wait to see how we either kill or force monarchs to ascend now I assume.
