sooo enjoyable, the twists and turns are insane and even tho i was spoiled on some things, it was still a shock reading it! Yangchen and Kavik angst broke my heart  😭😭 u could taste their pain.
Kudos to Yee for his amazing ability to make side characters feel real and complex w/ such few lines/appearances.

one thing I'm effy about is the timeskips(current time chapter then past time explaining it), like I get that it was done for things to be surprising, but it kinda annoyed me a bit by the end it felt excessive.

Again good for people interested in ATLA lore, fantasy political drama, etc. Etc.

I liked this one a lot more we finally started cooking!! The change in dynamic here really improved my enjoyment here - with Kavik growing a conscience finally he was way more fun to read and relate to, as well as Yangchen and Kavik’s new dynamic
where she knows he’s a double agent and he wants to redeem himself
. The plot really took off running here and I loved the exploration of Chaisee as a character as well - understanding her upbringing helped flesh out the shades of grey these characters sit in morally. Yangchen’s struggles really feel painful here as she’s such a unique character: calculating yet selfless and trying so hard I often forgot how young she is. I’m quite happy with how this one ended and enjoyed it much more - but dear god give this woman some peace …

It was good. No complex twists and turns. It's interesting to see how the evil in the world can repeatedly destroy even the strongest of humanity, and our only choice is to keep pushing through. I also appreciated learning the origin of combustion bending.
