Loved the relationship between the main characters, it’s so hard to find sapphic monster romances sometimes! And it’s so rare to see a female monster be written to be so inhuman in appearance and behavior, it was honestly a breath of fresh air! The only thing that kept me from giving it a full 4 was I think the mystery aspect and some of the supporting characters could have been a bit more focused on, though I do think that it being such a fast paced read mostly makes up for that! Really loved the atmosphere of this one.

This was weird, creepy, and terrifying. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. (Spiders are not my thing)Much like The Salt Grows Heavy, the author, Hache Pueyo, uses some pretty big words in her descriptions. I’m thankful I read this on my kindle so I could use the dictionary. I’m not sure I would have w enjoyed it nearly as much reading it physically. All in all, a good read.

I'm really liking short stories lately, they're like snap shots of a different world. I like that not everything is explained, and my imagination is left to explore the world after.

This is most definitely the most monster-y monster romance I've ever read. Yay for actually scary monsters!

Do avoid it if you have a severe fear of spiders.
