L.E. Bryce has created a completely captivating world. Her characterizations are the most perfect ones I may have ever read. Her characters are just so believable, and their journeys are both realistic and fascinating. I am in awe of her storytelling skill. Also, Adeja may be my favorite character of all time. I seriously cannot express in words how much I love this series.

I remember really liking this story a lot when I first read it. I liked it this time, too, but I'd forgotten most of the details, turns out. Which was kinda great as it felt very fresh... The first time I read this book, I was 10 years younger, and I think most of the background tragedy and deaths, I brushed aside or didn't think too much about. Now that I'm a decade older, those deaths felt more painful.

And I'd entirely forgotten that Adeja dies during the series. For some reason, I had the faint impression that Sephil and Adeja, while not together romantically, had happy endings. Guess I must have imagined them a happy ending in my head. I'm going to go ahead and keep imagining it.

All the characters in the book have distinct personalities and depths, that make me care about them. Even the shallow, mean characters have their moments. I already miss them (the good characters), though I have a book still left to read. Well, I'm onto the last book in the series.
