Though it is often repetitive, this book is full of actionable advice. The core concept boils down to habit forming, small steps, and continuous upkeep so that you stay ahead of the mess. I'm sure that there are plenty of people who this strategy would work for but even the author tells you it's not easy. If you struggle to form habits, this book might not live up to its title.

This is a great book, but the more recent Decluttering book hits me more where I'm at. If you're drowning, this is where to start. If you're focussed on cutting back on stuff, Decluttering at the Speed of Life is better.

Great advice suitable for adhd brains that is not confronting but also not condescending
This book was written for people who have piles of clutter everywhere, dishes constantly in the sink, and an all over dirty house they can’t get on top of. That’s not me. But although I was not the intended audience for this book I read it anyway since the recommendation came from a trusted source and I was able to gain a few nuggets of wisdom that I will be applying to to my own home management. I’ve always just had one “cleaning day” per week (like my mom did) but at this stage in my life it’s not working very well to do it all at once. This book convinced me to try the method of cleaning something small everyday so I’ve made a schedule and will start immediately. We’ll see how it goes!
If you are the intended audience for the book, I would suggest reading it because you will get practical and simple strategies to get your home under control.
