I just don't like Olga's writing style, I can't seem to get into her books.

I think the style of the book was just not for me. The book was mainly made up of little fragments and a few comparable longer stories.
I found a few of them very interesting, mostly those how talked about travels. But especially the ones surrounding the human bodies were not for me. First of all I didn't get their conection to the other theme in the book. And second I personally didn't enjoy them.

So many good thoughts, so many great philosophies, so many intriguing characters. So little plot.
Flights is a beautiful novel that explores the psychology of travel and what it means to be human and to preserve ourselves. While there are interspersed short stories (some of which come back a time or two throughout), there’s a variety of sections in Flights that are just a few lines or ideas and thoughts. I loved it, but the lack of a continuous plot made it hard to sit down and read in larger chunks like I enjoy doing

My new go-to suggestion if someone asks me for a book that is comparable to Borges’ best works

Intriguing collection of connected short stories that are spun around travel, anatomy and embalming. From these deftly written and loosely connected stories, we learn a lot about human anatomy. Ultimately, i felt the message of the book was to convey the idea that we are all travelers through life, without the ability to preserve life as would a mortician.
