The way I tripped and fell and became obsessed with this book in approximately 0.2 seconds. I'm in awe of Tia Williams' writing and the way she crafted this story. I cared so deeply about Eva and Shane I felt unwell. This was simply brilliant.

I really enjoyed this, for the most part. I loved the exploration of complex characters in a somewhat toxic relationship and how their trauma played into it. I also loved the representation of Eva with chronic migraines, as someone with chronic migraines myself I liked that.

However, and this isn’t the authors’ fault, the cover makes this seem more like literacy fiction, and this is more like of a contemporary, comedy…romance (it wasn’t really romantic but it also wasn’t NOT romantic). Due to how many heavy themes this had, I think it might have worked better as lit fic, but the comedy did help the digestability I think.

I’m excited to read more from this author!

Really enjoyed the character development in this, though the relationship development was kind of thin for me. The third act break up was predictable
Was scared at the end that we weren't getting an HEA. Thank goodness for epilogues.

I absolutely loved this book. It was very hyped a few years ago, which always makes me a little cautious, but sometimes the hype is totally justified and that was the case with this book. The characters pulled me in right from the first chapter and I grew to love them as we flipped back and forth between present day and the past that built the history of our two main characters.

Each of these characters is so well developed and so easy to love entirely. The tie between the two of them across time and circumstance feels so important and tangible, despite being just a feeling. I love the depth of their relationship and the way that it grew. I love their soulmate dynamic. Highly recommend this read.
