Not as funny as his last book (This is where I leave you) which was laugh out loud hilarious. This one has some interesting characters, but is ultimately a rumination on death and whether life is worth living. The main character is a down and out loser, finds out he is dying if he doesn't get an operation and spends the rest of the book discovering why life is worth living. It was a decent quick read. Get it form the library.

Didn't finish it. Didn't get it. Didn't like the main character. Didn't like the plot. Tone deaf to author's sense of humour.

"It was okay" pretty much describes this book. Thankfully it was a quick read, and it did have some good one-liners, enough to make me smirk on this inside a little bit. If nothing else, it was insightful. But the ending... oh, the ending was awful. It's a cliffhanger if I ever saw one.. and not in a good way. You simply don't know what happens. The author leaves dozens of questions unanswered. It'salmost as if he just stopped in the middle of the story. Even an epilogue would have solved that problem, but no.. you're just left frustratingly unsatifsfied. I don't know if I'll be reading Jonathan Tropper's other book..

I didn't love this Jonathan Tropper as much as I did his other books but it was still entertaining. His are easy books to read but they carry some darkness with their light, and that makes me feel as though I'm reading something with some substance and not just the "cheeto" equivalent.

Trite and repetitive. But I am guessing it will be made into a movie.

Great, fun read.

I love his style. Not my favorite plot but had some sweetness to it.

3.5 stars — I really like Jonathan Tropper’s writing style full of witty and irreverent characters and this book was the same. I found the ending to be a bit too quick, and I feel like it was pretty inevitable from the beginning. Overall a very quick and easy read that still feels worthwhile and fresh.

I love this man's writing....quirky, funny, disturbing and profound all at once. Pick this one up!

Not nearly as good as his others.
