I like to read slow and take my time and this book was perfect for that experience. I love the prose and following Circe's thoughts and feelings about herself and the world. She is an unchanging goddess and yet she does just that; evolves before our very eyes.

I do not have a background for this genre so my 3.5 rating reflects that. I think had I had  a better understanding of Greek Mythology my rating would have higher.

honestly one of my favourite books of this year so far and a guarantee that I’ll start to read more madeleine miller titles.
despite not knowing a lot about greek mythology and the already existing stories i thoroughly enjoyed following circe on her journey and one thing i love the most is how layered she is. she’s not a perfect heroine by all means and all the guilt, anger and longing she feels i think was executed perfectly. i also loved how her journey managed to tie in with other greek myths that i already know of such as odysseus and the minotaur and I thought it was very interesting to see them from her perspective.
overall a wonderful read and i would definitely recommend it to anyone!!
