There’s a super fine line to enjoy a book that’s based on Gods and Classical history and not be outlandishly wrong. I enjoyed the descriptions, the characters, and how the immortal world meshed with the mortal. I especially liked “glamours” that made it seem realistic how immortals could live among mortals.  I was also invested enough in the journey of the characters that I wanted Persephone to confide in Hades!
My issues were with the sheer amount of plots/twists at the near end of this book.
There was a possible baby trope (which actually made sense for this story), betrayal “go to the reincarnation fountain” AKA its a trap, blackmail, miscommunication, an extra bet about being a conquest, and of course main character “growth” issues.

I most definitely loved Demeter’s issues. It was so true to her classical myth that I just couldn’t not love it. It was executed so well!

Lastly, the way Persephone and Hades concluded their issues
*cough* PDA
was not how I imagined it would end. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn’t realize that this was technically erotica going into it. And man there is a lot of sex. So just a heads up. It’s a pretty nice retelling of the myth. Some parts felt extremely basic.

It was interesting read, I was not a fan of some of the tropes in this book, but maybe that’s just me. The story kind of dragged on some parts but I enjoyed the ending.

I really liked how Hades was a portrayed, but I was frustrated with Persephone for most of the book (towards the end was when I started to like her a bit more).
