I hate flying. So, reading this book in the first place was scary to me. But WOAH did Falling deliver! This is a fast paced, tense, edge of your seat THRILL RIDE. The author perfectly balances the precarious situation on the plane with the terrifying stuff that is happening with the captain’s family on the ground. I was riveted, anxiously biting my nails, and chilled while reading it. I can’t remember the last time a book actually WORRIED me like this one did so kudos to the author for bringing out all these emotions out of me.

If you’re a frequent flyer, then please don’t read this one right before your next trip lol. It’s better to be read from the safety of your own couch where you can put it down when you start to feel anxious! I can’t wait to read Drowning next!

The book starts with a punch and I was immediately hooked… for the first chapter. I found beyond that initial opener, it was a slow starter. It picks up pace after about chapter 15 and the end chapters really do grip you: it’s definitely a ‘just-one-more-chapter’ book towards the end and I couldn’t put it down!

Overall I thought the storyline was fairly average. I wasn’t blown away in all honesty and at times it was quite predictable. I think by the nature of the setting, there’s only so much possibility around the plot.

The characters were a great ensemble but you never really get in to any depth with them. There just isn’t the time. But given it’s a hostage situation, I found this an odd choice as it’s hard to get emotionally invested in any of the characters.

Overall I did still really enjoy the book, and I would recommend it to anyone keen on a thriller. I can absolutely see it as a movie and it’s one I would watch. An enjoyable read and (just about) a 4 star read from me.
