Snap is such a cool kid! I loved the plot and the art, and the emotional conversations in the book were so beautifully written.

I wanted to read this book for a while and usually when that happens, a book is just dissapointing, but this one wasn't. I really loved it and will definitely be rereading it. It is a fast read and it just feels good to read it. Lots of positive LGBTQ+ representation too.

Reading notes:

Snap thanking the witch is every employees dream.

The way the witch changed her experession when hearing that Snap is named after her mum's favourite flower.

Snap's mum standing up for her in the book store.

The sightings of the one-eyed Tom look like they are kinda in E. Carrol's style, where the background is black and white and the creature is very vibrant. It looks so good.

Snap and Lulu just being nice to each other and talking about their interests with each other.

Snap's mum being nice to Lulu in just a casual way.

Am lowkey heartbroken because of the reason that Jacks does not want kids.

The love story between Jacks and Jessamine.

This month I've been reading a lotttt of sapphic comics to recommend and highlight them on my page. This one was lower on my list, I had heard great things but when I sat down to read it, I really knew nothing about it. This story follows Snap, a young girl who doesn't fit in anywhere. She has her mom who raises her on her own and her dog. But when the neighborhood "witch" may finds her dog and takes him in, Snap must go rescue him. She makes a completely unexpected friendship with this lady and finds out some old history that ties her family story to this supposed witch. There are magical elements, there are endearing trans characters exploring identity for the first time, there is a sapphic story in the past brough into the present, and there's Snap, my fav protagonist I've met this month. Definitely give this comic a shot! It's a 5 star read for me.

You know when a book is just good and you don’t have a whole lot to say about it besides that? That’s Snapdragon. The artwork is well done, with strong character designs that are simple yet highly expressive, and each panel has just the right amount of detail to make the world feel real while still being easily readable. The characters are easy to love and root for. The story is sweet yet also a little dark, but not in a way that feels inharmonious. It’s just good. Give it a read.
