6yo bubba and I loved it. So sad at parts but teaches a child important lessons.

My Rating : 4🌟

A true classic! A book that never gets old no matter how many times it is read!

Re-read this with my daughter. Happy, sad, touching, thought-provoking, and then a happy ending.
Didn't get into the metaphorical themes the book contains. Just fun to share.

Just lovely and homely, beautiful descriptions of the English countryside. And a lot of depth in the stories & personalities of all the horses & people you meet. Don’t think I’ll ever look at a horse the same way again.

This may have been the first book that made me cry. A timeless classic for all horse lovers. . . also, this book was banned in South Africa because of the title. Clearly, they did not read it.

I was six when I read this book. I read it during vacation in New Hampshire. It was one of the first chapter books I read and always one of my favorites.

lack Beauty used to be one of my favourite movies when I was a child. I never knew that it was originally a book until I found it "by accident" in a second hand store.

I really enjoyed reading this book, but I think I mostly liked it because I used to love the movie so much. The story is really good, but Black Beauty is supposed to be a (especially in the beginning) young male horse and I feel like the writing sometimes makes him sound like an adult (human) woman.
