It was okay.
Not good, not omg-i-love-it-so-much, no ew-i-hate-it, just okay
First of all, I hate Vee, she's too damn desperate and stupid for her own good.
And I am not too fond on Nora too, but meh I'll let it slide.
In whole, it's okay, but it didn't deserve my three stars. Sorry.

Here's the thing, I actually REALLY wanted to like this book. I had heard good things about it, the cover is awesome (I'm a sucker for a cover) and from just the summary I thought it had potential to be a really fantastic read. Tragically it fell appallingly short of even my lowest expectations.

I have not given a book a 1 star rating in a LONG time, but frankly this book just did not deserve more. Let's start with the story, shall we?!? It was obvious that this was Fitzpatrick's freshman novel, unfortunately that does not appeal nor is it going to garner any sympathies from my ethos. She was stingy with giving up vital information to move the plot along smoothly. I'm assuming that was her attempt at making the book mysterious, the problem is she kept us out of the loop on a lot of things for WAY too long. When she finally did get around to filling us in she clumsily tossed out the clues in a condescending and intellectually insulting manner. The irony is we all already know that Patch is/was an angel. HELLO!!!! We can see the cover! Another reviewer put it bests when she said: "Nora's big break in the mystery comes in the form of a Google search; she literally types `angel wing scars' into the search engine. And what prompted her search into fallen angels? - a carnival ride called the `Archangel'. If that's not a sledgehammer to reader's intelligence, I don't know what is." The sub-plots were not well developed, choppy, at best, and distracting. Reading this book felt like walking into a room with too much on the walls. Although at first glance it might appear to be interesting the reality is it's disorganized, overstimulating and appears more like clutter than art.

Fitzpatrick's characters were flawed beyond the point of redemption. Nora's intellectual ineptitude and amateur sleuthing was painful to sit through. Patch is the type that immediately rubs not only the heroine but the reader raw. He's constantly insulting Nora, emotionally and, at times, physically abusive in what the author wanted us to believe was romantic. For the majority of the book all they do is trade insults and argue. His actions are confusing, highly suspect and although Nora has rational moments when she recognizes that Patch is narcissistic sociopath she still goes on to put herself in one dangerous scenario after another. The bottom line is, Hush, Hush exemplifies yet another young adult romance with no romance in sight. She's an object of his lust, nothing more. Lust NOT love!

I'm loathe to admit I did find this story to be entertaining despite the aforementioned. Perhaps it was because of the sheer lunacy of the entire story. Be warned: If cliches make you sick, I'd suggest skipping this one entirely.

I won't rate it because I read it more than ten years ago and I remember nothing about it.

Fallen angels can possess fallen angel descendants during Cheshvan? It's just a regular-length, average month. It's like saying that about November.

Pure awful. No payoff for sticking with. Just shame and sorrow over all the nothing I could have been doing instead.
