I finally decided to read one of the Longmire books because I love the TV series. The two are vastly different. The charcters have the same names, it's about a sheriff's department, and it's set in Wyoming. If I'd read the book first, I might have liked it better, but the Walt Longmire I love in the tv show is not the guy from the book. I just really like the i just really like the loyal cowboy who may sometimes bend the law, but he is always on the side of justice. Plus, there is a lot of profanity in the book. I think I'll just stick to the show.

This is an impressive way to begin a series. Watching the tv show definitely impacts how I imagine the characters, but it works out pretty well. Great twist. Fabulous characters. And a grouchy old sheriff you can't help but love.

I really enjoyed this book. The story was great. I love the characters. It is great to have a similar story as an episode of Longmire. The book and tv episode have many differences but I enjoyed both.

I thought this book would be too gritty for my tastes so I held off reading it for quite some time. But I missed the television series, Longmire, oddly not finding that too gritty. I found this first book in the series to be different enough from the television series to hold my interest, yet similar enough to feel I was seeing old friends again, particularly Sheriff Walt Longmire and Henry Standing Bear. I look forward to reading more in this series.

I listened to the audio book on a very, very long drive.
A quite superb book. Sheriff Longmire is a self-drepracating, aging cowboy caught up in all too many messes, mostly off his own making.
It's more introspective and has much more humour than the (excellent) TV series, and better for it.
The main supporting characters his long-suffering best friend Henry Standing Bear and his feisty, insubordinate deputy 'Vic' Morelli are wonderfully drawn.

Loved the setting and the characters, but was a bit upset by the author's apparent view of women as sex objects.

Regular con detalles agradables de vez en cuando.
