Slow but very interesting

I'm a little predisposed to like this because I love the TV series, but this book was even better than I expected. The descriptive passages were incredibly vivid, the dialogue engaging and sharp, and the mystical elements hinted at enough to be intriguing without overwhelming the story.
I had heard some of the characters were handled differently in the show from how they were originally portrayed in the books and worried that I'd come in not caring for the differences, but found that wasn't the case at all. Many of the characteristics I enjoy are present and the changes only enhanced the story for me.
Definitely a series I'll be continuing.

Well, I didn’t see the end coming lol. Really enjoyed this and wasn’t expecting to. I’m not much into reading westerns, but this one hooked me from the start…

Meh. I wanted to like the story, but I couldn't get into it. It was very slow. There was too much about Walt driving from point A to point B to point C then back to point A...

This is way outside my normal read, but I love the show and respect the author. And you have to push your boundaries occasionally or you get old and stagnant! In this case, it worked out well and I'm glad I took the time to read this. I'll read more of this series to feed my new found Longmire obsession.

I liked this book a lot (I also like the TV show, and have watched all available episodes on Netflix).

The book was humorous, sad, and exciting. The ending was sad, but not all stories can have a happy ending. I definitely plan to read more.

I’m paying the price today for staying up much too late to finish this book!

I’ve been watching Longmire since the first season and was very excited to read the books.

Loved this book from the first page and I enjoyed the wild cast of characters. The mystery played more in the background as characters were introduced, but still a very engaging "who done it".
I like Craig Johnson’s writing style and have already ordered #2.
