The only painful thing about this book was how much Katnis can’t figure out her feelings. Otherwise this was a great follow up to book one and doesn’t suffer much from the “middle book syndrome” most 2nd books in a trilogy do.

I am so glad I reread this book. When I first read it, I was only 12, and I did not understand any of the political commentary.

Really good book, as was the first one. The plot in this book was especially well devised, and the creativity and connectedness of the story definitely surpasses the first novel. This book was a fun read (if incredibly emotional and traumatic) and met my expectations! However, the writing style is a bit ”young”, which can make it a bit boring/unenjoyable at times (not significantly).

Rereading this. It's so good but it still hurts so bad. The introduction of new characters was great and several you start to love with the brief time you have them.

collins is able to raise the stakes and keep you invested in the characters and the plot and even in the new characters. the additions to the lore are fascinating and you want to know more. katniss’ grief and mental state is also interesting to explore but equally devastating.
