it does get a bit slow when in district 12, but everything else completely make up for it, and the development of katniss and peeta’s relationship is something to completely adore about this book. such a cool concept about the arena, and the ending will forever be one of the best plot twists.

I initially DNF'd this book, but I eventually just had to continue reading months later. Science Fiction and Dystopian are two of my least favorite genres so that didn't help my experience.

I can see why Katniss Everdeen is so beloved among the reading community. She truly is a one-of-a-kind protagonist. Although, I'm a bit fed up with the Not Like Other Girls trope. :/

I also appreciate how the romance takes its place on the back burner. It lines up with Katniss's character and the plot. She honestly has better things to do.

This book is even better than the great first one. This series touches on so many important societal topics but in a really intriguing world and with a gripping, heart-wrenching concept. The way the second games were written kept it fresh - it didn’t feel like the first one rehashed, it was a different story, with somehow even higher stakes.  This book is even better than the great first one.
