Audiobook - I really have appreciated this book a lot more now I am older - I once thought it was a little boring, not enough action, wishing the Hunger Games would begin sooner. Now, I think it is wonderfully written, telling the story of a girl who has been thrust into the heart of a rebellion she doesn't even know about and how she deals with it. The pacing is nearly perfect, but I think the final Hunger Games is slightly rushed - other than this, it is an amazing and impactful read.

While slower paced than the first, still an exciting and interesting read. I love to see Katniss’ development from an unwitting symbol of the rebellion to a full-fledged rebel and her ever-changing relationship with Peeta. He and Gale come to symbolize the two opposing theories of war/uprising (diplomatic vs violent) in which Katniss will find herself torn between in the final installment. Collins’ writing is great as ever, packed with food symbolism, references to the previous book, and foreshadowing of what’s to come.
