Shunned my responsibilities for the past two days and reread this book instead. Best idea I've had in a while.

For me, "Catching Fire" was as captivating as "The Hunger Games." There are several big surprises, and the ending left me dying for the next book in the series (I hear it's due next August). I only wish the end wasn't so blunt and that there was more explanation of the final big twist...although I suppose that will come in the third story. This series really makes me think and I love that!

I liked this more than book 1 honestly - the foreshadowing and suspense was even better this time around. Some of the secondary characters feel a bit flat though (largely by design) - I would have loved to get a bit more backstory on some of the victors, especially the ones who play a larger role. I'm sure that will happen in book 3 but that's basically the only critique I can give this.

I will be team Peeta forever and the nicest thing I can say about Gale is that he's a stupid little rat who wouldn't last one single DAY in that arena. If it was up to me, I would personally take him down just to feel internal peace before the sweet embrace of a Capitol-induced death. Gale is a stupid little booger and I hope book 3 brings nothing but pain and suffering for him.
