I was in two minds before reading this book as alot of the ratings and reviews were not great but still decided to give it a go. I now really wished i had'nt, the story sounds great but was actually clunky and not full of the suspense I was expecting, the lead characters had no spark, and just irritated me. In the end I gave up even though 85% of the story was over, i just could'nt take it any more and did'nt care if Ramie survived and lived hea.

I don't even know what to say! I love Maya Banks and I was super excited when I came across this series from her. I was surprised and excited to see that she did a paranormal series. I love it. This book was nothing what I expected. It was suspenseful with a twist of paranormal and I truly liked the romance in this book. It wasn't overly aggressive, and I felt like it was a nice break from what I had been reading. The book also had some suspenseful moments as well.

This isn't your typical Maya Banks book. This was 90% suspense and 10% romance honestly. I enjoyed the story line and loved the psychic abilities. That gave this story a twist and made it different from most suspense/thrillers. The romance in this story was lacking for me. I didn't really feel the love between the characters, it just left too sudden. I think I assumed since it was Maya Banks that it would be more romance, so I'm going to continue onto book 2 and go into it with an open mind.

The narrator Jeffrey Kafer had the perfect voice for this story. He made Caleb more likable to me.

This book was painful to listen to. Nothing romantic came out with those spurt of words, with expletives in every turn. It was a f***ing waste of time.

I found this book difficult to finish, most if not all of the interactions seemed completely unrealistic and forced. Moving on.

While I liked the villain, the main characters just didn't seem real to me. Their conversations felt dated and stilted.

I definitely would not consider this a slow burn book. If anything the romantic relationship between the two was extremely fast. Very much more of a fantasy style romance. Some of the psychic abilities were just a little too far fetched at times.
