This is a book I would definitely reread but maybe next time in print! I didn’t realize until maybe 1/3 of the way through the audiobook that there was three POVs because there was no indication of this. The narrators were unnamed and the voices used were very similar to each other. I only picked it up because they would use different words to describe each other like “my daughter” “my granddaughter” and “my mother”. I’m sure it’s easier to know who’s talking reading it physically.
I didn’t know entirely what was going on but I felt the anger, injustice and vengeance dripping off these women and that was enough for me to enjoy it. I look forward to reading this again in the future. I think this is my highest rated translated novel this year. That is a win!!

I don't know if it's because I'm in a bit of a reading slump, but I did not love this as much as I expected to.
Woodworm is a haunted house story following 3 generations of women in this one sinister house.
I loved the creepy, unnerving vibes and the commentary on class, race, and morality. Some of the manifestations of these themes were a bit on the nose, but mostly still effective.
I struggled a bit with the shifting perspectives as all three female narrators are unnamed, so they are just referred to by relationship (daughter, mother, granddaughter, grandmother) and the occasional "old woman". The tones of the speakers were different, but not enough so that it was immediately clear. Because the chapters are all set in the same place (just a different time) it got a bit confusing trying to keep track of who we were reading from.
I really liked how the narrators address you as the reader (and sometimes all readers as a group), it added to the spooky "someone is watching you" feeling.
All in all: a good read I thought was going to be great. I may need to try again when I am less slumpy.
