This was a weird book and I liked it. It’s sad and spooky and magical in a way that allows for critiques of class, inheritance, and entitlement. It’s very Cask of Amontillado but with more motive and magical realism.

La historia de Carcoma te atrapa y te lleva a ese lugar lúgubre. Te sienta a la mesa para escuchar esa conversación entre la abuela y la nieta como si tú fueses una de las sombras que habitan el lugar. Duro y aditivo, atmósferas cargadas de elementos tenebrosos. Lo de la ortografía me ha chocado un poco, pero entiendo que así se entiende mejor a los personajes gracias a ese estilo narrativo que resulta interesante.

A complex and satisfying supernatural revenge story, only slightly marred by a narrator with a very pronounced lisp. This may have been to convey that this is Iberian rather than Latin American but she otherwise didn't have an accent. A very pleasant voice and good, dramatic intonation but that lisp drove me crazy. 

Loved the book itself though!

Que libro tan diferente pero increíble!!!! Deja entrever tantas cosas…. Clase social, género, memoria, mundo rural, vírgenes, santos, sombras…

Está escrito de una manera que muestra esa rabia acumulada de generación en generación que te hacen pensar “como para no sentirse así”.

Dos protagonistas fuertes, duras e intensas.

La casa como un personaje más. Me ha encantado la ambientación!!! Me la he imaginado perfectamente
