I don’t know what I anticipated with this book, but whatever expectations I had unfortunately weren’t met. Honestly I’m not sure how to say what this was about, or what I liked and didn’t like about it. The writing style / translation I did like; however I had to re-read chapters because I wasn’t sure whose POV we were reading from. It was a bit all over the place. I like the social commentary and class discussion, I liked the use of the paranormal being a metaphor for familiar trauma, I’m not sure if I liked anything else. It seemed repetitive, a bit confusing, and it took me a week to read a 125 page novella that should’ve been a one-sitting job. I don’t think this will deter me from reading other books by this author, as I know this is her first time publishing a full novel so I’m still curious to read more but this one fell a little flat from what I was expecting. 2.5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️.5
