This is such an emotionally layered horror story that switches in POV. It is ambiguous, but It is both a haunted house story and a fever dream. It tackles class division, female rage, domestic violence and revenge, and how all of that is just a reflection of generational trauma, a horror novella that will absolutely lead to many discussions and unsettling societal truths

The only slight problem I have with the book is that, in my opinion, the writing style could be better. I specially dislike the many instances where commas were suppressed - and in parts where they were absolutely justified and would have helped the reading rhythm.
Other than that detail, everything in the book worked for me. Choosing the horror/supernatural ambiance and the almost latin-american-like magic realism as a tone to underline the story works and, in fact, ends up setting up the space to enhance what is for me the major point of this story: the social, historical and class criticism of the contemporary society that the author wants to make clear.
In many ways, it's about how so much of what was wrong one hundred years ago is still present - and the fact that it is just more well hidden, presenting itself gradually and almost coyly, and we are more oblivious to it, doesn't make it less dangerous or insidious. It only leaves us more vulnerable to the woodworm.

C’est pas trop mon style, j’ai eu un peu de mal à rentrer dedans mais au final ça m’a quand même accrochée parce qu’au-delà de l’ambiance réalisme magique c’est très social.
Le côté horrifique, oppressant, angoissant m’a complètement happée et tenue en haleine. Je trouve que ça marche extrêmement bien avec le sujet : violences intrafamiliales et conjugales, héritage de traumatismes familiaux, pauvreté, l’impossibilité d’une mobilité sociale, la vengeance, l’amertume, etc.
