This was fun but nothing revolutionary in the realm of fairy tale retellings. I wish I had the physical edition for the illustrations- the full cast audiobook was fun though!

The illustrations are quite good in this dark riff off of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. This very short book will appeal primarily to adults and teens.

I liked the strong (though unfortunately not highly developed) female characters, but the story was not fleshed out enough to get it higher ratings from me. It was a little choppy and some plot elements were more subtle than I liked. Not Gaiman's strongest storytelling.

This book upsets fairy tale gender stereotypes, including having a queen dress in armor and be the one to kiss and wake sleeping beauty. This is not as part of a romance, but simply a plot device.

Absolutely gorgeous illustrations and I enjoyed the re-telling but it was also nothing amazing either.

Interesting fairytale retelling. The illustrations are particularly good. Probably 3.5 stars because of the illustrations.
