CW: Mental & physical abuse, rape

It's not really a spoiler to say that the first section of the book follows Haven's abusive marriage. I found it to be difficult to listen to it as it escalated.

The book is well written and I liked seeing Hardy get his HEA, but the abuse really wore me down. I think it would've been a stronger (and more palatable) book if it opened with the scene of Haven being thrown out, struggling to leave, and contacting Gage. We just didn't need to live through all that earlier heartache.

It was slow paced but kept me hooked. Blue Eyed Devil got a Swag. Haven deserved someone like him to get over her horrific past.  Their love story was flawed but endearing. It's not the best one I read this year, but I enjoyed it.

4.5 stars. I know everyone loved this one more than the 1st and I really did enjoy it. I just LOVED the first one so much more.

A rich man’s daughter escapes the clutches of her abusive husband and rediscovers herself with the help of a start-up, the enemy of her family and the man she kissed in the dark all those years ago. It’s my second time reading this and it’s still as good as I remembered.

This was more cohesive and better told than Sugar Daddy. However, there were still some pacing issues and then it wrapped up so suddenly. As with Sugar Daddy, I do think this veers more towards general fiction with a secondary romance plot or at least the romance *should* be secondary. Make sure to check content warnings before reading as there are multiple on page incidents of violence.
