This was good. I had a wonderful time re-reading it. I liked the romance between Hardy and Haven. It was nice to getting to know more of the one of the other Travis brothers, Jack.

This is the first contemporary I have read by Kleypas and it has all the great markings of a kleypas romance.
They beginning was very dark. But tension throughout was incredible. Love stories with these big dynastic families.
Also it has been said before. But no one does a talisman like Lisa Kleypas.I am specifically referring to the charm bracelet. It plays such an important symbol in how Haven sees herself, who she wants to be and her acceptance into her family. The symbolism of Nick holding it hostage after the divorce is like she can’t move on yet not just from her trauma from nick but childhood as well. I think Kleypas is a genius.
There are some non-politically correct throw away lines in this book that were a little jarring, but most of these characters are stated as been “non-politically correct Texans” and for 2008 it feels pretty tame in context.

To me this is 3.5, I've been loving Hardy since I read the first book and even though it makes total sense that Harvey would fall for Haven, something is missing in the history of them. I feel like I read it and skipped some chapters... Overall I guess is a good book and in spite of how much I love Hardy I won't read it again... I would have loved this book if I had a glimpse of Hardy just as the first one I think the male perspective would have made it so muuuuuch interesting.

So good. The beginning was depressing as hell but gave a perfect buildup to the rest of the story. I LOVED Hardy and I LOVED Haven and together they were perfect. I thought perhaps the ending was a little rushed but other than that, amazing.

So, this book was good, I kind of loved it! It was my first read from this author, and I was pleasantly surprised, I liked the writing style a lot.
In the beginning of the book was a bit hard for me to get in the story, and I can say that sometimes the author overuses descriptions and inner thoughts (even if it can be useful to understand the character, they were too long), but after a few (virtual) page turns I took a dive and went with the flow. Want I liked most was the evolution Haven , it was beautiful to see how she was able to overcome the trauma caused by the ex husband and the controlling men in her family. In the end she was fighting for what she wanted with no hesitations. Hardy was the perfect hero in this case, although I would have liked to see his character explored a bit more.
This is my first book in the series (The first one appears to be some king of love triangle and that's not my thing), but I will give it a try to the next Travis stories as well!

One of my new favorite books and couples. I did not realize that is was a second book of a series though I'm not sure if you have to read them in order. Anyway I fell in love with these characters while learning about the obstacles they had to face in their lives. A few twists that I did not expect to happen and it kept me on the edge of my seat! A great book that teaches you how some real relationships are in the world. I can't wait to read the other two in the series!
"Awesome! Great author - leaves you wanting more and could not put it down! A must summer read!"
kinda feels like it ended right as it was getting started but tbh pretty good
This was my first Kleypas novel, and I get why people love her books. I thought this one was well-written and the main couple was compelling. I probably should have read the content warnings because I was not expecting the book to be so heavy! I also probably should have started with another book as I have, yet again, picked up a book about rich people and disliked the fact that they acted like rich people. Some aspects of book have aged poorly: the comments on Latinos and Native Americans were not it for me. Also, the love interest paid off a family so they wouldn’t press charges against his rapist brother? I mean, what. The men in the main character’s life were so profoundly condescending, it really got on my nerves. But otherwise not bad I was very immersed in the story.
