I loved this book so much. Walker and Kate had so much chemistry. Watching them and how they navigate their attraction was an emotional rollercoaster. The interactions that they have will keep you on your toes. This book will definitely have your emotions all over the place. It is well written and easy to read. I would highly recommend this book! I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest opinion.

Something about forbidden romances are like bait for me. But when it’s sports-related and dealing with an athlete and someone in the front office (which I wish I could have a job like Kate’s), I just want to talk some sense into the characters that are constantly fighting what’s between them. I briefly remember Walker from previous MQ books. And to be honest, he wasn’t that memorable. But him getting his own book is golden.

The one thing that I love about Meghan’s books (and sometimes not like) is that characters from multiple books are intertwined. “What do you mean?” Walker’s agent. Have you read The Bromance Club? If not, I highly suggest it. Three best friends that are all majorly successful. Roark has book number two. If you got to the end and wondered why he approved of the fraternizing, then you have to read his book to understand why. But that’s not the point of Walker and Kate’s story. Actually, I take that back. It is 100% part of their story.

You see, Kate works in the front office for the Bobbies. She’s one of the team events coordinators, team liaison, and basically helps the guys that need a little push in presenting themselves better for the Bobbies. Kate was assigned to Walker when his rep on the field was trash, and his personal life was essentially a big old question mark. What neither of them planned was the instant spark that lit between them.

Walker has a chip on his shoulder. But he wasn’t always, completely like that. He was a happy go-lucky baseball player in high school with hopes of playing for the Major’s. Until one night, after trusting a teammate, that all changed. Walker carries a lot of the blame for what happened that night (if you haven’t read it, I won’t spoil it) and it’s understandable. But the blame is wrongly misplaced. That’s where Kate comes in.

Kate does her job extremely well and is the right person to help Walker appeal better to not only the fans, but the front office. Slowly, ever so slowly, Walker opens up. They actually talk. Well…Kate pulls information out of Walker; but talking is talking. And because of that, the professional line that was so starkly drawn between them, became a line that was just a line. Kate and Walker slowly met in the middle of that line. You could say they toed the line together, effectively demolishing the professionalism that was meant to stay in place. And boy…when they finally gave in, let’s just say I blushed. Like Meghan knows how to write a spicy scene.

Every book that’s ever been written, can’t go without some conflict. It always has to have some sort of loophole, obstacle, and ending for the big stuff to happen. Walker has a rivalry with Penn. He’s the starting pitcher for the Bobbies. They also have a history together, which makes it harder for Walker to even be around him. Kate and her friend Dan have been friends since college. They were both there for each other when they hit rock bottom. I’m not sure why it didn’t click that Penn and Dan mirrored each other. It’s like they were the same person.

Meghan’s baseball books have followed a type of pattern. The main couple is together, an issue occurs, they break-up, and then reunite 8 years later. Yes, I said 8 years. And to be quite frank, that’s a long time to still be hung up on someone. If you loved someone that much, then 1 year apart would have sufficed. But she broke that pattern (FINALLY!!!) with a 2-month break. And it was absolutely necessary, painful, but necessary. So, if you’ve avoided reading more of Meghan’s baseball books because you don’t know why 8 years is even necessary, then fear not with this one.

This book was soo good that I need more people talking about it, I consider a crime how underrated it is.

The way they wanted so bad to explore more of their attraction but knew about the consequences, the whole "we shouldn't but I can't stop" uuhg just love it.

+1 for the cute moments
+ 1 he was SO SWEET to her, and the way he talked to others about her, with such respect and admiration, love it
-1 the miscommunication that happened in the last chapters, not a fan.

Also didn't love that much the ending, it felt a little rushed.

Big spoiler ahead:
Have to say, I didn't expect that plot twist with their friend?? Like what are the odds, also, I didn't like him and the way he treated Kate, I stan with Walker tbh.

Thoughts: Great read!!

The TENSION in this book is insane!

If you are a fan of sports romance with a sprinkle of forbidden love, this is the story for you!

This story follows Walker a MLB player who is completely despised by the fans of the Bobbies (their baseball team), his coaching staff, and some players. He is stoic, grumpy and even sometimes plan out rude. He wants nothing more to be left alone and to be out of the spotlight. However, after a lot of bad press, it was decided to stick a PR “babysitter” on him to clean up his image.

In walks Kate. Kate is curvy, strong, and the sunshine to Walker’s grumpy. She stands up for herself and stands up to Walker. I absolutely adored her!

Now on to the tension... the more time they spent together, they more pull they have towards each other. There are multiple scenes that you could feel their tension through Meghan’s worlds. It was glorious.

All together this was a fun read that kept me very entertained! I wouldn’t mind a Walker for myself!

If you love sports romance you will be OBSESSED!!
