Oh my god. These books just own me!!!!
I was blessed by the baseball gods to read this before it came out and I just have to say Meghan Quinn can do absolutely NOTHING wrong when it comes to baseball romances. She absolutely nails the angst and tension and this book was pure perfection!!!
Walker has been this enigma in the baseball world and we’ve heard about him but haven’t gotten to be in his brain and see how he operates... until now. And boy oh boy is he a dream come true!!!! He’s a grumpy dude who doesn’t allow his true self to be seen by the people in his life. He’s very reserved, prefers it that way, and absolutely doesn’t want to change anything. Then enters in little miss Kate and she is the most perfect person for him!!! This little ball of sunshine who is genuine and thoughtful but doesn’t take any shit from people is beautiful inside and out and I totally aspire to be like her. She is incredible!!!
This has to be one of the slowest slow burns I’ve ever read. It was completely frustrating and yet I loved every second of it and wouldn’t want it any other way. When they do *finallllly* succumb to their feelings and the inevitable it’s like literal fireworks because their chemistry is absolutely INSANE.
I loved every single second of this book and it’s making me think I need to do a full series reread because I’ve gotten into a slump ever since finishing this book and desperately need some hot baseball players to get me back in the game (pun sorta intended).
How dare Meghan Quinn write yet another perfect hot baseball player that’s fictional???? And yet, please please PLEASE never stop writing these.

The Perfect Catch, the latest installment in the #TowelBrigade books is out today! I loved the slow-burn between Walker and Kate and watching their story unfold.
Walker is the ultimate dark and broody hero with some secrets buried deep inside, but he's also burying a sweet and sensitive side as well. Kate is sassy and independent and won't let anything get in the way of her goals, not even a hunky baseball catcher. Watching them dance around each other and try to ignore their attraction and tension? Magic.
There were a few instances of mental health rep in this one; one that I thought was handled well and one that I thought could have been handled better. I'm sure as an author it can be hard to balance the flow of a story and portraying a character seeking help, but I do wish that authors would trend more towards at least mentioning a character seeking therapy, instead of just brushing it under that rug. Maybe that's just me.
It wouldn't be a MQ book without her signature steamy scenes and this slow burn DELIVERS- they five-second rule will never look the same again.
Meghan said Walker gave her a huge book hangover to write. I can definitely see why- Carson is still my favorite baseball boy, but Walker is up there for me!
Overall, I give this one ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and a moderate steam rating.
Slightly spoilery CW: Alcoholism, loss of a sibling
Special thanks to Candi Kane PR for my early copy of this one!

Walker and Kate were all tension, angst, heat and yearning. The best parts of forbidden romance that had my body on edge from all the deliciousness. Walker starts out as a hot headed unlikeable guy. He is clearly holding a grudge and on a downward spiral. Kate is new to the Bobbies and determined to succeed at her new job which has her coordinating community event and promotional opportunities for the Bobbies. This puts Walker directly in her path and instead of bowing to his curmudgeony behavior she gives as good as he does and it starts to wake him up.
This story is a slow burn with delicious tension. They want each other, understand and respect the consequences of what fraternizing would mean for their careers, but just can't stay away. Holy hotness, the bedroom scenes had me panting and sweating and fanning myself with my kindle. Both Kate and Walker have dirty minds and dirty mouths and some really dirty texts.
One of the things I liked about this workplace romance is that the consequences for both Kate and Walker are equal. There is not an unequal distribution of power, even though he is a baseball player and she is office staff, they are both risking their jobs and they just can't resist.
I loved that these characters didn't make dumb decisions no predictable plot holes and there is towards the end that had me literally exclaiming "Holy plot twist Batman" in the middle of the night scaring my husband awake. I did NOT see it coming!! (good job Meghan!!)
This audio book is narrated by Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin and the casting was perfection. Jason Clarke was all sorts of growly grumpy deliciousness and Vanessa Edwin is a strong female lead who also does a great male voice.
5 outstanding stars from me this book was a home run, knocked it out of the park all the punny baseball puns you can think of.
I received an ARC and ALC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

(ARC Review) The Perfect Catch is the 8th Book in the Brentwood Baseball series though we’ve left Brentwood behind and returned back to the world of the Bobbies. Walker is known as the least liked player in baseball, though he works hard and is a great catcher, he’s also known to break a bat over a water cooler when a call doesn’t go his way.
Kate is the community events coordinator for the Bobbies and gets put in charge of rehabbing his reputation with community service and a bit of an attitude makeover. He absolutely does not want to follow the Bobbie’s plan, but knows he’ll probably get traded if he doesn’t make nice, so he reluctantly agrees.
Their time spent together quickly turns into something more, but it’s totally forbidden for the athletes and office staff to fraternize. They take little moments together where they can, but how long will that be enough?
I connected with Walker in a way I didn’t expect after meeting him in The Lineup (I think that’s where we met him anyway, it’s hard to keep track; there's so many books in the series now). He’s probably my favorite hero in the series and that’s saying a lot because Maddox exists here. He has a bad reputation and well documented anger problem, but really he’s just a guy who wants to keep his head down and do his job. He doesn’t want to deal with press and forced community service and all the extra junk that goes along with a professional sports career. He just wants to play ball, and maybe yell at an ump when he doesn’t agree with their call.
There’s not much I love more than a grumpy hero who is totally soft for his girl only. His hard shell melted pretty quickly for Kate despite his reluctance and their forbidden circumstances and his sweet and soft underbelly was quickly exposed.
Kate is basically every extrovert who tries to bring an introvert out of their shell in the office. As an introvert, it gave me some terrible flashbacks of forced icebreakers and team building but if Walker doesn’t hold it against her neither will I. I can’t say she’s my favorite heroine for a few reasons but I did appreciate her take no shit attitude. It wouldn't be a Meghan Quinn book if I didn't get mad at least one character so it's to be expected!
Overall an enjoyable read, I loved seeing some of our old friends and players again and getting to know Walker! 4.5 stars

Oh my heart! I absolutely love Walker and Kate. There’s just something about a good grumpy guy with an amazing heart that always gets me. I can’t really explain why I loved this book so much, I can’t find the words, it was just perfect. Their pull was so strong, and I loved how much they talked together about the serious things in their life as well. Walker rushed into my top 3 Brentwood Guys really quickly, and I don’t see him leaving any time soon!
