It's beautiful. It's just absolutely beautiful. Perfect for letter writers and postcard senders and anyone who still believes in the magic of sending love through the mail.

It's difficult to rate this because 1) this series has significant sentimental value for me and 2) I always find it difficult to rate graphic novels. While this isn't totally a graphic novel, I consider the art form very similar, where artwork and words combine to tell this story. All in all, I've enjoyed revisiting this story, especially since I'm much older than when I first read it, so my experience was different.

A new style of book for me-- Griffin & Sabine is written as a series of letters/postcards back and forth between two individuals. The plot is curious and intriguing-- both are artists. Sabine has been able to see Griffin draw for years, but she does not know who he is until she comes across some of his work. And thus begins a correspondence.

A very quick read (less than an hour)... the beauty of the book lies in the lovely and interesting illustrations.

"Art for art's sake is best quarantined here in the old world. I crave an art that passionately transcends the mundane instead of being a device for self-deception."

A short read which is clever, magical and a true work of art.

This is one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. The book consists of letters and handmade postcards, and it's a thrill to open each new letter and discover something new. I tried to read this book one letter per day, but I gave up quickly and simply consumed the entire thing in one day.

The books which follow are not quite as interesting, particularly after The Golden Mean, but the art remains top-rate.
