The tension definitely ratchets up a notch in the second book in Morgan L. Busse’s Ravenwood Saga. I can safely say that if you enjoyed the first book in this series, you will want to get your hands on the second. In fact, you’ll probably want to get your hands on the third, too, but unfortunately we have to wait six months for that!
This book starts right where the first left off: With Selene having fled Ravenwood, leaving her younger sister Amara to step in and try to fill Selene’s shoes both as a dreamwalker and, potentially, as the future head of House Ravenwood. The story also continues to follow Selene and Damien, who are trying to adjust to their new circumstances as well as prepare for the war they know is coming.
I love the mix of personal and political tensions in this story. Fantasy isn’t a genre I dive into often, but when I do, I love to get a feel for the political tensions in the world that’s been created, and that’s done really well here. The tension between Selene and Damien had the potential to become angsty and riddled with mistrust and misunderstandings, but these potholes were completely avoided in favour of a much more nuanced tension that befitted the complexity of these two characters and their situation.
But of all the elements in this story, I think I’m enjoying Selene’s personal journey the most. She has only been trained to use the dreamwalking gift for ill, but as she becomes more and more intrigued by the Light, she needs to find a new purpose, and I can’t wait to continue that journey with her into the final book in the series.
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not influenced the content of my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.

This book and the previous in the series, The Mark Of The Raven are both amazing and I Love them!
The characters are great, their development and the romance - and I usually am not big on romance, slow burn. The inner turmoil and fight with good and bad choices was fantastic. Well developed, great story and plot and everything. I can’t wait to read the next book or maybe reread the first two again.
This series is reminding me so much of Muirwood series by Jeff Wheeler that I LOVE so much!
If you haven’t checked this out, Get on it! You don’t want to miss these fab books!

Flight of a Raven was even better than the first book in the series. I loved Damien and selenes relaship and I got the explanation of the sisters relashionship and why it was strained We also got to see why Selenes mother was as wicked as she was. Overall Selene continued to grow and the ending of this book left me with wanting more a great book overall .
Flight of the Raven is a wonderful continuation of the amazing Mark of the Raven. Selene, a woman who had been trained to be a dreamwalker, with the purpose of assassinating people, flees her kingdom with Lord Damien Maris, the head of a major ocean kingdom.
She struggles to adjust to her sudden life changes, fearing the presence of the Dark Lady and her growing power. Lord Maris wonders what to make of the Ravenwood secrets he learned from Selene, and prepares for a coming war. Meanwhile, Selene's mother schemes to bring House Maris down.
This was a well-paced, character driven sequel. Selene's journey is thoughtfully written, and the relationship between her and Damien is such a great part of the book. Other than one quick emotional turn that seemed out of place, the characters and plot keep the book moving in an intricate dance.
The only problem is I have to wait for the final book, Cry of the Raven.
