My husband called this book 'the tome' because she is CHONKY.

I'm so stuck on whether that was good or bad. Nicole did such a good job of representing grief, denial, rage, and self-blame with Dianna but man, it went ON. And this blends with the slow burn being sloooow. The plot and twists and action really do pick up after the Rage Train stops but some of the characters seem to really do a 180 with how they feel towards Dianna and they seem to forgive and forget pretty quick for someone who was on a war path. This is where the 'grief' card gets played as 'oh well, she raged but it's okay she was just big mad'. I do love me a 'I support women's rights and women's wrongs' story but there was no consequences.

The side characters become more integral to the story with POVs besides Dianna and Samkiel being added, which made the plot richer since we got to jump around the world and the people to get more of the story. Lazy? Maybe, but I appreciated it none the less. Samkiel is top tier MMC, and some people dislike Dianna but I'm a Dianna supporter.

Tl;DR can be it's good, maybe 200 pages too long, but I love the realm and the characters and will immediately start Book 3.

Hmm. I have mixed feelings on this one. I'll give it 3 stars. It was a step down from book 1, but has it's moments.

I didn't love Dianna in this book. I understand why she was how she was, but it doesn't mean I liked it. Samkiel was a god(lol)send. The way he cared about her through everything she spewed was what anyone would want from a partner.

I'm not a fan of multiple POVs, so that stared to lose me. Some of them I was interested in, others I wasn't. I feel like the storyline just went crazy in the last 20%. Finding out the who. The what. The why. The when. Some of it just felt like shock value and not like a strong plotline.

I'm not sure the book needed to be as long as it was, and I'm definitely not sure this needs to be a seven book series. I think it's going to end up losing my interest. We'll see what happens in book 3.

Hands down one of the most romantic books I’ve ever read. I cannot recommend this (and the book of azrael) enough!! The patience, the tension, the gentleness with grief! Holy moly I have just stumbled across a new favorite.

This book had me kicking my feet, laughing, blushing, saying “wtf!!” out loud, surprised me with some plot twists and so much more! This was so well done I LOVED the details and the attention to the backstories of all the characters and ofc the multiple pov chapters. This was truly so enjoyable. I’m immediately starting the third book (I had no idea there were four books in this series until now and I’m SO glad)

Amazing

This series is truly everything you desire from a fantasy world. Amber crafts the worlds with ease, and makes characters you can easily fall in love with. The diversity and inclusion are truly inspiring and I cannot wait for more installments. This is by fay my favorite series, to date. Compatible to Sarah J Maas or the Cat and Mouse Duet. Beautifully constructed and crafted with the hand of a true artist.

4.5 stars.
It was the first book with side characters' POVs that I didn't skip.(yes I do skip side character POVs)..

3.5⭐️
I am SO conflicted over this book. The majority of this book was soooo slow. It reminds me of CC where 90% you barely find out anything and then the last 10% everything comes out and i can’t put it down! Majority of the book is 3 stars and the ending is 5 fs!! The cliffhangers in these books
