It gets better at the end but there is too much inner monologue that it prevents the story from progressing. There are some major plot points and reveals but the drama of it is reduced by Dianna’s inner rambling. More dialogue, less inner cycling. The first 70% of the book was really boring. The story dragged on. Waiting for over a book and a half for the characters to get together is frustrating especially when it isn’t filled with tension and yearning.

Phew. What a book. Perhaps a little too long to be honest as the middle dragged on longer than I wanted. I realize it was to set up the latter half, so powering through was DEFINITELY worth it. Excited to see what happens in #3.

In this book, this story, the characters were filled with raw emotions. My heart broke for all of them, and in some places, I wanted to strangle some characters.
My heart wept for Dianna, after losing her sister, her own family ..she shook the world.. literally! In parts I cried for her..others...she was a badass and I worship her! She blames her
Samkiel..aka Liam... tries to find and her stop her..to help her. His heart belongs to her whether he wants it or not. His main drive is protecting Dianna.

There were so many sweet parts, Dianna family getting a family and feeling worthy of it. I loved her friendships with Neverra and Imogen.. made my heart sore !
What did surprise was Kaden chapters.. It's different seeing a villains POV and to see how his twisted mind works...it added an extra depth to this story..and the plot 😱😱😱
I can't wait for book 3. I just want everyone safe and happy!!
