The synopsis had me hooked from the beginning. Emiline's life is stagnant and when her roommate forces her to read a book, she reluctantly does it, only to find that it is her life. From there, she goes though a medley of emotions when she realizes that the book was written by her childhood friend and first love. And the book is written in a way that you will feel everything Emiline feels.
You start on this journey with the characters and you don't want to put the book in because it sucks you in. 4.5 stars. I loved the way the author presented the story and the story line grips and pulls you in before you even start reading. If you want to see how this story unfolds, you will need to read the book because there is too much to put in a short review, and I don't want to give too much away. But I can promise that you won't regret one clicking today.

Woman reads a best seller. Finds that it is based on her poverty/abuse filled child ethos. But written from her perspective. Only one person can know the details and she hasn’t heard from him in years.
Cool concept
Felt like there was some major plot holes
The dialogue can be cringy

Extraordinary
What a extraordinary and heartfelt book! I don't normally like books with flashback inserts but in this case, the flashbacks were vital to the story and a brilliant ploy to develop the story. Emi has been with Trevor for 7 years but the relation is not going anywhere, they're just plodding along. Then she learns about this bestseller book from her roommate and she starts to read it. To her huge surprise, the book is about her childhood, something she's always kept hidden. Totally torn apart by the story, her life gets chaotic. She meets Jase, her childhood friend, her soulmate, and she has to deal with her roommate, with Trevor, with Jase, and all the ghosts of her childhood. The development of the plot was just brilliant, I cried, I got mad, I longed, felt the bittersweet and the envy and the lost feeling that Emi felt. This book was a rollercoaster of feelings and I loved it!

Lately I've been reading books with kind of the same genre/plot line and pacings like: child-abuse, ununderstanding adults (parents), protagonists whose souls are broken and DEPRESSION LOTS AND LOTS OF DEPRESSION!
'Swear On This Life" is mostly about finding yourself in life and figuring out what you want to do with your life when you're fully grown adult.
I was expecting this book to be something sweet and exciting, but it turned out to be depressing, sad and tragic.
However, on the other hand I liked this book, it dealt with very serious and realistic topics and certainly didn't downplay it.
I liked the characters, they weren't extraordinary instead they were REAL. I also loved the novel in this book. But it ended happily and that was the most important thing.
Overall, this was beautiful, heartbreaking and giving love a second chance.
4/5 Stars.

I ate this up! Top 3 books I’ve read this year so far. Used the word impassive a lot though and it bothered me lol but 5 stars nonetheless!!
It's been a while since I've enjoyed a book this much. What a gripping read. I don't want to give anything away about the story so I will just say I highly recommend you give this one a try! Loved it!

- okay. So it was a book, about a girl reading a book about her life, about a girl reading a book about her life. I loved the message and the whole ‘don’t be scared to go for what you know it’s right before it’s too late’ thing, BUT. This just really was not for me. Interesting idea, but I would’ve preferred to see them together more, rather than read about a fictional adaptation of them as people. Jace literally kisses her when she said not to cause she had a boyfriend, the whole situation was weird and cheating does not fly. The amount of trauma these characters had tho, like genuinely I feel awful for them, slay for making it out. And how tf did she have the restraint for it to take her MONTHS to finish reading a book ABOUT HER?!!
