i really really liked this one!! again, the way that adichie writes about characters is so real and so raw and the experience of race in predominantly white institutions is something that was so honest and so real and so necessary!! this book made me smile and made my heart ache when necessary and reminded me how much i love love (sidenote: the tenderness with which such impassioned emotion is spoken about is both so gentle and so moving that i genuinely had to take a second)

There was a lot of little stories within this book and some where interesting but I honestly could have done without obinze’s story line I found them boring, maybe just because I liked ifemelu so much I wanted to get back to her. So because of this it felt long and dragged out at times. A sort of satisfying ending. Really interesting take of American blackness vs non American blackness I learned a lot!
