I've seen the TV series, which I enjoyed, so decided to give the books a go. The Agatha in the books is very different from the one on TV. I can't say I liked her very much to begin with, though I started to thaw a little towards the end.  It was first published more than 30 years ago so it is a little dated, but still an enjoyable cosy crime listen.

Penelope Keith did a fabulous job narrating the book, as I expected!

I enjoy Agatha's prickly character. Though the series gets a bit stretched as it goes on, I still enjoy the books while I read them.

I thought I was going to like this book from the author better than the first one I read. This is slightly true, as I found the story a bit more engaging, but I struggled to feel the real cosiness or warmth of the Cotswold village.
Though I usually enjoy unlikeable characters, Agatha often comes across as sharp and self-centered in a way that made it hard for me to truly connect with the story, which is so strongly centered around her.
Overall, I think most of the time I just went with the flow, wondering whodunit and trying to soak in the experience.
I might read more from the Agatha Raisin series someday, but not for now.
