I never understood the phrase "cozy mystery" until I read this book. Not too violent or gruesome, quirky protagonist, entertaining side characters, small town... All the works. A few bits of the book haven't aged well, but it's overall a fun read.
I wasn't sure what I thought about the main character at first. Agatha comes across as rough, not caring about others, and a bit rude all things considered. However, as the story goes along, you can see how things start to change--slowly as all people do. The mystery was good and kept me guessing from the moment the victim keeled over. I'll give the second book in the series a try as I did like Agatha a bit more by the end of it.
Entretenida.

This book is a solid read. I appreciated the fact that the main character is kind of unlikable and cantankerous. I may read more from this series.
A terrible big-city woman retires early, moves to the countryside, and stubbornly tangles herself up in murder by bringing a London-bought quiche to a local baking contest.
Charmingly flawed characters, wittily plotted, snarkily written. Recommend for non-simpering cozy readers.

Parfaite lecture au chalet! J'ai beaucoup plus apprécié que ce à quoi je m'attendais. Je vais en lire d'autres de la série.

I decided to try a little cosy crime and I didn't mind it. I don't understand how people could only read this type of book, but the familiar Cotswold villages and typically eccentric English characters can be a decent bit of light relief.
