I read this book in one sitting, and it was a rollercoaster (in the best way possible)! I was not expecting the emotions that I would read in this book.

The story starts off with the young FMC, Mae, who is in love with the MC president, Ace. Mae confesses her feelings for Ace, and he does not reciprocate her emotions. However, he starts to begin to start to notice the little things that he noticed before, but in a different light. He starts to see her be more than someone who he runs to tell his problems to.

I enjoyed the angst between the two. Will Ace finally reciprocate his emotions? Or is he going to continue to be a douche (lol)? When the two argue, Mae does not automatically tell her feelings or express her emotions to Ace, which drives him CRAZY.

Spoiler
Ace continues to have an emotional, tug-of-war with himself, finding that Mae is too young for him, and too much of a friend.

But then Mae and Ace have to suffer for days being kidnapped, and holy shit, it really hits the fan. Mae is raped in front of Ace, making him suffer was the plan. The worst case is that Mae was not even supposed to be the one that was kidnapped, they kidnapped the wrong person!

When they escape their hellhole, Mystique (ew btw) helps them escape, but she is also coming onto Ace. Ace has to watch as Mae is broken, physically and emotionally. But he breaks her too, by taking Mystique with him instead of her to kill the man that hurt her. This was beyond frustrating! She finally vocalized her feelings, and he wants to "protect her" from it. I believe that she has already lived through it, and wanted more than closure.

Wonderfully written! I am still reeling from the book.

Uhh.. and Piper, that Cliffhanger ending?! What are you doing, girl?

This book does contain scenes of sexual violence and abuse....

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.........

I loved that Tag and Lucy were included in this book (love that couple).

Ace and Mae....I did not love as much.

I would have preferred that Ace had feelings and an attraction for Mae beforehand.  They'd always been good friends but their chemistry felt lacking because he never saw her like that until after she said something.

We get a little bit of relationship building with HOT sex but soon after, we have drama separating them.

Ace and Mae are kidnapped and during this time, Mae is repeatedly raped and Ace is forced to watch.  I thought the author did such an awesome job writing this scene and the emotions....

Again, my biggest complaint was that I believed the closeness of their friendship but their love and mutual attraction was debatable.  Maybe if the story was a little longer we would have experienced the transition but the book ends with Mae and Ace at a semi emotional recovered state after the kidnapping.

Still an enjoyable read!
