Short and sweet - or not sweet at all actually, very diabetic friendly with plenty of reminders that some people's feet do get amputated. It felt like it ended too quick but it was clear and actually there was no need for it to be longer he really did cover the science, his background and the diet premise as well as case studies. I read this out of interest more than anything but I have a particular fear of amputation now so I may give this a go soon.

A reasonable adaptation and explanation of the Newcastle University diet study that appears to reverse Type 2 Diabetes by following a low carbohydrate, low calorie diet for 8 weeks.

To be honest there isn't really anything new in this book about eating and what sort of foods you should eat. Even though I am not diabetic I thought it would be a good diet to still follow to lose weight whilst eating the right foods. Unfortunately apart from recipes which, especially for lunch times I would have struggled to prepare at work, there wasn't a great deal that I fancied. Personally I would have preferred a list of foods that I could eat so I could make up my own meal ideas with the foods that I like. Have heard a lot of good things about the diet but as there is no detailed food list it makes it pretty impossible for me to follow.

slow-paced
Awful book. Promotes a very fear mongering thing and wants you to be on a 800 calories/day diet for 8 weeks. Eye roll.

This made lots of things very clear. Newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic- I am very keen on wiping this sucker from my life. One week in and the food is delicious and I don’t feel hungry. My stomach is shrinking rapidly!

My only bugbear is one that I have with all diet plans :you will buy a perishable ingredient that you will use a small part of and won’t touch again for weeks so it will be wasted.

Example: week 1 Monday has a portion of feta- this does not appear again until Wednesday week 3. No one else in my house would eat this.

The solution is to plan or adapt my own meal plans with some repeat meals or meals with similar ingredients. I can do this if I’m not feeling lazy

Having just been told I have pre-diabetes my doctor recommended this book for research.
I have watched some of Michael's documentaries, and his book is like his shows- very well explained, with science ( and personal experience) to back up his hypothesis.
Lots of food for thought here and quite inspiring. I have bought the companion recipe book ( although this is not really needed) as this book has a diet plan, and there is a website to assist you with your journey.
Only day two into this diet and so far so good :)

Very interesting read and although I don't think I could do 800 calories a day for 8 weeks, adopting the 5:2 principles with a low carb Mediterranean diet is appealing and probably doable.

To be continued.

I am not a diabetic although I do have a family member who is.

This book is jam packed full of easy to follow information on diabetes and quizzes. However I already live a healthy lifestyle; I still wanted to learn about diabetes and this 8 week programme that has helped many people. The recipes included are yummy. I will be trying them. I also may consider purchasing this book for future reference.
