I’d call it ‘mediocre middle grade book with fairy spice’
She should've stayed in the library

This was incredibly boring, full of plot holes and wasn’t well written. Whoever marketed this as adult must not have read it, given it felt more like a YA with a vague attempt at romantasy that just didn’t work. Also predicted the plot twist at the end.

The idea of an enchanted library, cottagecore and cosy vibes with magic for a book could’ve been so good, but was executed poorly. I’m very disappointed I can’t lie.

The only redeeming features were the small portion of the enchanted library we got as well as the characters of Isla, Gryph, Grey and the fox who were barely in it. Milo also seemed like a sweet kid and I liked him despite his also limited presence.

I have mixed feelings about Lore as she acted like an ungrateful brat at times, though could be wonderful at others. Finn is another character I have mixed feelings on, but he is growing on me.

Will I read the next one? Possibly. I would like to see some of the characters again and see if the duology can be redeemed. It’s a decision for a later date.

Lore always wondered what was past the forest surrounding her small village. No one has made it past the forest. After a failed attempt, Lore decided to never try again. That is until she gets a chance to leave her town to do something for the Fae Lord. The Fae Lord wants her to search an enchanted library for any books of magic because only humans can enter. Lore agrees but will she turn the magic books over or see if she can use the magic herself that the faes use to feel they are above humans. An adventure ensues involving help from two attractive Fae males that both catch Lore’s eye.

I thoroughly enjoyed Lore of the Wilds. There were so many twists and turns and the ENDING!!!! I did not see that coming at the end. I was flabbergasted. This was an amazing novel from a debut author and I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I need the next book now

The plot of this book was SO GOOD and it had so much potential to be amazing. I did find though that the pace was slow and jarring throughout most of the book, making it a bit hard to get through. Pace picked up in the final section and the ending saw a TWIST I absolutely did not see coming. However, there's still many unanswered questions that,  although I'm certain will be addressed in the next book, I wish were touched on more in this one. Would still recommend as it was good and I will be reading the next installment when it's out.

The description of this book was quite misleading, as it has several incredibly concerning elements near the end.  It also felt like the magic system was weakly constructed and rushed; everything the main character needed, she found or stumbled into without much conflict.
