In this well-written biography, Milford delves into the tumultuous life of poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. Throughout the book, Edna's debt-ridden and often tragic life unfolds through letters, poems, and interviews with Norma Millay, Edna's sister. It's an incredible, whirlwind story of love, lust, poetry, and fame.
For lovers of Edna's work, this book has the power to bring her back to life and to provide a new lens with which to read her work. However, for some, the biography might be a reminder that it's always a risk to meet our heroes.

This was my second read, and I loved it just as much as the first time.

An intriguing read, especially after having finished reading the poetry. There wasn't a lot of analysis of what happened in Millay's life, but perhaps that's not the kind of biography this is. Still, worth a read, I think.
