Was it good? Not really. Did I eat it up? Sure did.

Not gonna lie, this was really hot and I dug it. I'm reading Shain Rose way out of order but I honestly don't care because I think I'm going to read them all.

This is like great smut with really great tension. I looooove that the characters are still fleshed out and have actual flaws and pasts. It's just a really great package in one book.

All I'm gonna say is that miss author's reels were misleading af. I was this close to DNFing this book (it's self care after all), but I didn't because I wanted to see how the shitshow ended. The plotline of the story had me confused and wanting to smack both the MCs. I'm done adding books to my tbr after seeing random quotes ffs

I don’t even know where to start. Like most of the books I read, I saw a scene of this on TikTok and was like hmm, seems interesting. Welp I was throughly and bitterly disappointed.

So normally it takes me between like 1-3 days to finish a book and if I really like a book, I’ll finish it in one sitting cause I like to binge all things I love, it’s my obsessive tendencies. With this book however it took me, I kid you not, like 3 whole weeks to finish it. I kept starting and stopping, starting and stopping, I just could not bring myself to get into it, let alone finish it. So tonight I was around half way through and I decided to just power through and I finally be done with it.

Let’s talk main characters shall we. We have Cade (her boss/world class hacker/mafia affiliated) who I just simply could not bring myself to like or to even care about. And usually I’m super easy to please, give me male lead who’s obsessed with the love interest and I’m usually able to care about them, but my goodness did I find his character uninteresting and uninspiring.  Then we have Izzy (also, in my opinion, a world class hacker) who I also could not bring myself to like or even care about and the sad part is, her character could have had so much potential had she just been written right.

Speaking of potential, the plot also had so much potential but idk if it was just the writing style, I’m pretty sure this is the second book by Shain Rose that I’ve read and I just can’t get behind. I just found myself bored out of my mind. I hated Izzy and Cade’s constant bickering and fighting, it was tiresome and just toxic and not even in a fun way. I frankly was shocked when they suddenly claimed to love each other so deeply let alone at all, cause where TF did that come from?? The entire Albanian side plot was boring AF. Honestly this whole book was boring AF. I think I enjoyed one scene and one scene only and that was after I’d read around 350 pages of the book? Mind you, this book is like 372 pages long. My favourite part about this book was Izzy’s dad, and that man has like 5 lines in this entire book, and I think I’m being generous with the number of lines.

And I’m truly not even a picky reader, my only requirement is that I am entertained. I can accept and forgive a lot of things, but boring is NOT one of those things.

I gave one star, because art is art and for me all literature deserves a star, and also for that one scene that made me laugh and because I think 0 stars would be harsh.

What a book?!?!
I couldn’t find a console thing I didn’t like about this book.
Cade and Izzy were the best mess. Passion, fire, volatile, toxic, sexy, happy, beautiful and more can be added to explain the intensity of this book and the characters.
Shain writes these beautifully complex characters that come to life in such a way you wish to know them as if they were alive. You want to know how they are doing and what they are doing years down the road. Have em over for dinner just to see the greatest possible love you could imagine.

I was incredibly impressed with this book and always look forward to more.

Thank you Shain for giving me this chance to ARC read your book!

this book ❤️❤️

This book literally had me on an emotional rollercoaster. And truthfully I never have connected to a character as I did Izzy. Shain did an amazing job with Izzy & her sobriety along with reality of the battles of it especially when you have family concerned. Cade I literally had a love/hate thing for him. But he knew their limits & regardless as much as you want to hate him he’s truthfully an amazing Balance of what Izzy needed. The spice, the action, and chemistry overall in this book was amazing. Definitely check triggers. But yes if u haven’t read this. DO IT!! Book 1 fractured freedom was good too. These are standalones but both books are great too.

Plot line 4/5
