A much more serious academic translation of The Symposium, complete with great commentary for academics in classics or philosophy department. I think there is still a niche for an academic translation of Plato with psychoanalytic theorists in mind (Allen's commentary is mostly incorrect in its descriptions of and engagement with Freud and psychoanalysis) but this one does the trick, especially when paired with C. D. C. Reeve's "A Study in Violets."
