This book totally struck out for me. Hazel sure was quirky, but she was also a bit of a pick-me-girl, which I found unappealing. There's also a really fine line between appreciating/celebrating vs. fetishizing a different culture, and Hazel flirted with that line throughout the book, so be forewarned. The timeline went way too fast to be believable—Hazel met Emily like nine months before the start of the book and they were already best friends, and then within two weeks of re-meeting Josh, he was her best friend? Plus the trope at the end was a big nope for me. The dual POV might have actually been the only good thing about the book because I found both Josh and Hazel annoying enough that I couldn't have handled a whole book from just one of their perspectives.

The premise was cute, and I wanted to like it more than I actually did. Hazel is A Lot, which is the whole point but she was a bit much for me. It was a mostly enjoyable read until the end, though, which I hated.
Why is it always pregnancy? Why?

weirdest book ever. just a normal rom com for the majority of it but a boring one with average/bad writing at that. liked the characters ig even if they were a bit much at times but there wasnt much substance to this at all. then the (straight) authors decided to randomly through in an unnecessary homophobic slur. like huh??? throw in a pregnancy trope and a random almost miscarriage in the last 10 pages and you get this book which ultimately i did not enjoy. its these last few reasons which took it down from like a 3.5 to a 2.75 and im probs being generous. so confused by it all rn

This was… a mess.
The synopsis is what caught my eye, so I was then disappointed to learn that it’s not really a good summary/ description of the plot.
The characters were okay. They were a little two dimensional and Hazel was not quite as funny as she was supposed to be, but they were still entertaining.
The relationship between Josh and Hazel as well as basically all the other relationships just fell a little flat to me. There was just that spark missing that made it all believable. It was still okay, just nothing special. What really ruined it for me was the last 20% though.
I hate the surprise pregnancy trope, so I was very unhappy when Hazel realized she was pregnant. And when they made me believe that she miscarried her baby, the book was kinda ruined.

I didn’t have high expectations for this book but I still was a bit disappointed.
