This might have been my least favorite book in the series. It was hard to get through Mare’s parts, it was so depressing. I understand that it is a huge part of the plot and it helps bring attention to what’s happening to her as well as in Norton but I’ve never been a huge fan of these types of scenes. Especially since she was imprisoned for more than half the book.

I really enjoyed Evangeline’s POV and wish that we got more of her. I felt so much passion from her character and her experiences growing up as a royal silver and transitioning hate her state. I loved seeing Norton from her perspective. It felt more genuine that Mare’s, who is just obsessed with Maven.

I also enjoyed Camren’s POV. I respect her character so much and her internal struggle of wanting to officially join the Scarlet Guard or find safety with her brother once they rescue him. I found her POV to be so funny, when she describes other characters that we’ve previously seen through Mare’s perspective.

Maven once again saved this horrible abomination.

Tell me why does Mare end up with Cal? He chose THRONE over HER TWICE!!! If a man does that he should be glad he doesn't have red mark on his face from my hand

Once again I enjoyed the journey Victoria Aveyard took us on. Enjoyed following Mare, and the addition of Cameron and Evangeline’s perspective was fascinating! Will be reading the fourth book soon!!

I have been blazing through this series and for good reason, it's enjoyable and has decent word-building.

That being said while the Red Queen series didn't suffer from the second book syndrome in Glass Swors, King's Cage DEFINITELY suffered. There were multiple times were I suffered from what I call a reader's block, where I can pinpoint the part in the story where the author works themselves into a corner and desperately tries to claw out of it.

Secondly, where I feel Glass Sword makes up for lack of representation in Red Queen, I feel like King's Cage takes a few steps back seeing as
only villans are portrayed as being LGBT
.

But it's still worth a read and it's a highly enjoyable one too!
