This is a hard book to read. Be prepared emotionally. With that being said, I also think it is such an important read. Immaculee describes unimaginable pain and how she overcame it. It is such a powerful lesson.

Good gracious! Stories of people’s ability to survive the unthinkable and thrive afterwards never cease to amaze me. So very glad to know this story and piece of history.

Heart-wrenching depiction of Rwandan Holocaust - we take so much for granted. Brutally honest and beautifully written

My husband and I sponsor a child from Rwanda through Compassion International. I picked this book up to learn more about his country's history. It's an absolutely riveting story. Highly recommended.

Wow, this real story of the hatred and genocide will stay with me forever. I would say that this book will change your life. The courage, forgiveness and amazing love Immaculee has is almost beyond understanding. This young woman taught me a deeper understanding of faith and the power of a living God.

Take a deep breath, sit back and prepare yourself for the true story of life in the midst of deep seated hatred and the unbelievable horrors that human beings can thrust upon others. This is a terrible story, one which we all need to read, in the hopes and prayers that this sort of thing will never be allowed to happen again in this world in which we live.

I’m not sure where to even begin with this book- but it has been my absolute privilege to read this account of a survivor of the Rwandan genocide. And although haunting, it is a beautiful story of faith and forgiveness. What Immaculée lived through, and her gut wrenching losses have forever changed me- but more importantly, her faith and her trust in God have changed me more. 10/10 recommend this book.
