My brother just got it from the book fair, so I might as well read it... It's kind of stupid... But I guess I've only started. It's okay. A little boring and predictable. You should only get it from the library. Not worth your money.

My kids and I listened to this on a road trip, and we were so hooked on the story, when we pulled into the driveway, we had to bring the last cd in so we could hear the ending. Pitchford is a fantastic narrator for his book. Charlie is quirky and funny and believable and likable as he tries to figure out how to celebrate turning the big "1-0", and the gross-out factor (Charlie's neighbor makes effects like latex eyeballs and fake stab wounds) makes this a huge hit for most kids. Great classroom read-aloud, too.

A goofy, fun read about a quirky misfit and his upcoming tenth birthday. A light, fun read.
