A sweet story.
I would habe liked more of everything from a so-called 'new-adult fantasy'. More spice (0.5/5 bc we got a fade-to-black) and also more tension when it came to the secret unwinding since the secret did not really unwind but the female MC finds a book and literally does not even have to use her brain to connect the dots...unused potential.
I also have a problem with forgiving an abuser ans that being the thing the bigger person does bc she can see what lead to them behaving like this...no. If someone does not respect your boundaries anf forces you to do things against your will you do not have to be the "bigger person"...

A Deal with the Elf King is a romance with elements of Beauty and the Beast and Hades and Persephone melded into it.
The story follows Luella as she is taken by the Elf King as the Human Queen and tries to navigate her new - unwanted - life in a distant land with a man who has a rather beastly personality. It was a beautiful take on two very classic stories that have similar - fan favourite - elements.
While the story was beautiful and the characters enjoyable, the story was slow paced and lacked description in places that it would have been critical.
Luella was a strong character who grew a lot throughout the story, however often had a lot of growth taken from her when it suited the plot. Eldas was similar, however his personality and background made this more acceptable.
This is definitely worth a read, especially if you enjoy Beauty and the Beast, with its captive to friends to lovers, or one bed tropes.
