This is another series I will be dropping after book #2.  I don't seem to be having good luck so far this year.  As usual the first book shows promise, intriguing worldbuilding, character has snark and sass in spades and I am compelled enough to read the second book.

Well, the character flaws are only enhanced in this book.  All that snark and sass is doubled-down upon and even the character admits that they cannot restrain themselves even when they know better!

It's just..  unbelievable.

Picture this:  40's something female, divorcee, has a kid but is an estranged mother (by choice), spent 9 years in the army before going independent contractor for the government as an assassin for the magical baddies.

Also: half-elf, 6 feet tall, long blonde hair in a braid, looks to be in her early twenties, acts like she's in her early twenties, has trouble with authority and following protocol (has to be reminded to do paperwork so she can get paid?).

Who could possibly relate this character?

So, yeah, if the main character was at all redeemable, I would probably be willing to look past the other failures in the book which I will also mention because they should have come with a trigger warning.

Sexual harassment/non-con/assault, and let's not forget the weird gay comments.

Also, the "romance" starts to develop in this book and it is so forced.  Everybody keeps asking her if she's flirting with the dude, planning to mate with him, marry him, etc.  It is weird.

Best part of the book is the tiger, if it was about him, I would be enthralled.
